[isoc-ny] WEBCAST TONIGHT – Internet Society @ ICANN 53 Chapters & Members meeting

[ISOC-NY announcements]

First, kudos to Tom Lowenhaupt for being the only one to respond correcting
my undeliberate mistake yesterday - "* ISOC-NY is an At-Large Structure in
the Generic Names Supporting Organization (GNSO)*" - of course I meant to
say *"in ICANN's At-Large Organization"*!. We are also a member of the
Noncommercial Constituency (NCUC) in the Non-Contracted Stakeholder Group
(NCSG) in the GNSO. For those that don't know the difference, At-Large
formally advises the ICANN Board on behalf of the Internet community
"at-large", while the NCUC via the NCSG actually participates in the policy
development process - before it ever gets to the board. Hope that's clear.
Tom wins a free trip to Buenos Aires this week! Where he will be attending
this Internet Society meeting tonight.

In contrast to previous ISOC at ICANN meets tonight is more of a reception and
mingling affair than a formal sit down, thus the possibility to participate
remotely (via Zoom <http://isoc.zoom.us/j/518640156>) will be rather
limited. Nevertheless it will be worth attending just to get the update on
latest ISOC projects and InterCommunity 2015
