Open House for New York City Cyber Command (NYC3) Hosted by New York
University’s Center for Global Affairs (CGA)

October 1st, 2019
4 - 6:30 pm
15 Barclay St. New York, NY 10007

NYU’s Center for Global Affairs (CGA) is hosting New York City Cyber
Command (NYC3) and partner organizations for an open house on October 1st,
2019 from 4p to 6:30p at 15 Barclay St. in downtown New York City. The
event will bring together the diverse cyber and information security
community of New York to discuss the critical mission of NYC3 and its
partner organizations and showcase CGA’s new degree program on
transnational cyber issues.

Participating organizations include:

● Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS)

● International Consortium of Minority Cybersecurity Professionals (ICMCP)

● Executive Women’s Forum (EWF)

● Empire Hacking

NYC3 is committed to protecting City systems that provide vital services to
New Yorkers from cyber threats, and helping residents become safer in their
digital lives. As the organization defending the largest municipality in
the country, NYC3 is charged with directing citywide incident response,
setting citywide cybersecurity policies and standards and working with city
agencies to strengthen their cyber defenses.

The new MS in Global Security, Conflict, and Cybercrime, offered by CGA,
prepares a global student body to provide leadership, management,
direction, advocacy and analysis in support of strengthening the cyber
posture of an organization to assure its mission in a contested operational
environment. The curriculum offers an opportunity for students to gain an
understanding of the STEM fundamentals of cyberspace in order to inform
their study of the social scientific dimensions of cyber espionage, crime
and warfare.

New York is home to chapters of several diverse and distinct organizations
in cybersecurity, focusing on the representation of minoritized groups,
such as WiCyS, ICMCP, and EWF. Additionally, active local meetups will be
present, particularly Empire Hacking, which cultivates a community of
pragmatic security researchers.
