ISOC-NY announcements announce at lists.isoc-ny.org

 Hello ISOC-NY Chapter Members

Time has come for me to move on at ISOC-NY. I have admin'd the chapter,
including website and social media, in one form or another, all of this
century, much of that time in support of our previous President David
Solomonoff. When David himself stepped down in 2016, there was no other
obvious candidate and I was duly elected to replace him.

At the end of last year I organized an election and was able (at our 20th
Anniversary event) to persuade Greg Shatan to stand for the board. Even
then I had him spotted as a potential leader for the Chapter. He was duly
elected and, in the time since, has proved himself to be every bit as
worthy as I imagined.

Thus I have duly resigned as President of ISOC-NY, as of Aug 31, and Greg
has been appointed my replacement.

I will also step down from my other responsibilities at the Chapter.
ISOC-NY has a strong board and I am sure Greg will make the best of a clean
slate to work with. However he needs support - YOUR SUPPORT! I urge you to
write directly to Greg, not just to welcome him but to offer your own
talents and efforts in the coming months. He can be reached at greg at isoc-ny,org
or, as things now work, by replying to this announcement. I am sure he will
have more to say, shortly.

As for me, I will continue in dual roles within ISOC. 1) As manager of
livestreams globally - if you want to continue to receive notices of
streams, look for me at http://isoc.live and 2) as admin of the (in
formation) Accessibility SIG - where we are keenly recruiting members! -
join at http://a11ySIG.org

All the best

Joly
