[isoc-ny] Senior Planet Needs Your Help!

[ISOC-NY announcements]

For those unfamiliar, Older Adult Technology Services <http://oats.org/> is
a longstanding non-profit who's sole purpose is helping senior New Yorkers
learn to use technology, in many cases to get online for the first time.
We've heard Director Tom Kamber speak on more than one occasion - he's a
forceful advocate for the same principle that underlies the Internet
Society's mission - The Internet is for Everyone. See more at

As you must know, we've never sent out this kind of appeal from ISOC-NY.
Similarly we have never received one from OATS. Thus this must be
important. The
threatened program is plainly a lifeline for many.  They are not asking for
money, just a few words of support.  Please find time to add your input.

Governor Cuomo and the New York State Legislature will decide the fate of a
Senior Planet program serving over 900 seniors in the state’s isolated,
rural North Country region. Their decision will partly rely on how many
messages of support OATS can generate from people who care about this
critical work, so we are asking you to take a few moments right now and
send a message that we can include in our advocacy.

* There is so much at stake:*  Since 2015, OATS has taught free classes to
hundreds of older adults living in some of the most rural counties of the
state.  We have helped people get online and use the internet--increasing
social connectedness, improving health outcomes, and helping rural seniors
ensure their independence.  Now these programs are threatened by budget
cuts.

Regardless of where you live, we need your voice now to show that people
are watching our government officials and making sure these great programs
are kept alive. Have OATS and Senior Planet made a difference in your
life?  Do you want to help us continue our work?  Then please, act now by
