<https://www.internetsociety.org/lets-keep-internet-everyone>The *Internet
Society <https://isoc.org/>* has today put out a statement - *Let's Keep
The Internet On For Everyone
<https://www.internetsociety.org/lets-keep-internet-everyone> -* in light
of the latest *shutdown in Cameroon
<https://qz.com/892433/cameroon-shut-down-the-internet-in-anglophone-regions-like-bamenda-buea/>*.
It says:

The Internet Society calls on all governments to stop Internet shutdowns.
We are concerned by the increasing number of shutdowns around the world,
often used in the context of elections, demonstrations or other tense
social situations.

We believe such measures are disproportional and have a wide-range of
negative effects on citizens, national and regional economies, the
Internet’s stability and, ultimately, the country itself.

After some details bolstering the above, the statement concludes by
strongly suggesting support for *AccessNow's Twitter Campaign
<https://act.accessnow.org/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=1921&ea.campaign.id=62870>*
aimed at key Cameroon decisionmakers.
