Wed Dec 16 07:03:46 PST 2009

Hello from ISOC-NY. Today most importantly we note that the NYC
Council Tech Committee is holding its hearing on promoting innovation
this morning, and also that our friends at NYLUG are having their
annual holiday party tonight! In other news: we have a new
Net-Neutrality poll on the website; there are videos from last weeks
OpenNY summit; a report from this week's ICANN North American At-Large
meeting; and an invite to, yet another, and very big, holiday shebang
- the NY Tech Holiday Party. Lastly news from ISOC Global - a new
relationship forged in support of the W3C and web standards, and a
call for nominations for the Board of Trustees.

Net Neutrality Poll

At ISOC-NY we care about what you, our members and associates, think!
So, we've instituted a fresh poll on our website where you can vote
your opinion on the hot topic of Net Neutrality. You can vote Nay, two
flavors of Yay, or suggest that the whole thing could be resolved by
increasing user choice by forcing the incumbents to share their pipes.
Mark your X now. Vote early and vote often! (although you'll have to
switch IP to game the system.)

NARALO Meeting 12/14

ISOC-NY is a member Structure in ICANN's At-Large community, and an
active participant in the North America Regional At-Large Organization

introduction of new Top Level Domains, security changes in the Domain
Name System, and reorganization of the constituency system of
representation. ICANN itself is under new management as new president
Rod Beckstrom gets into his stride. At the most recent NARALO meeting,
we were presented with fresh proposals for resolving trademark issues
in the new domains, and also a draft of ICANN's Strategic Plan for the
